Abstract
The emission of chemicals in the textile industry, sometimes toxic chemicals, is one of the major sustainability issues for the industry. This is reflected in the focus on requirements for chemicals in ecolabeling for textiles as well as industry initiatives in the area, which in many cases are responding to nongovernmental organizations’ activities of measuring toxic contaminants in the wastewater of textile mills.
