Abstract
A recent and environmentally more sustainable approach to reducing the levels of pharmaceuticals and their impacts on the environment is to employ green pharmacy which incorporates the principles of green chemistry. These two concepts along with the technique of life-cycle assessment are explained and illustrated with examples of common pharmaceuticals.
