Abstract

Section 1.2 introduced the concept of structure-to-property-to-performance relationships. Section 1.3 enumerated several key applications of polymeric foams. These included structural and flexible foams, as well as foams for biomedical, space, and other specialized and emerging applications. Within each category are several specialized applications that require more specific and targeted structure-to-property relationships in order to achieve optimal performance. Part IV is devoted to providing more in-depth coverage into the critical design considerations for developing polymeric foams for these various categories and applications.
