Abstract

Humans are now able to go far beyond the earth. As a result, concerns about more complicated cross-border issues arise accordingly. Initially, the topics of concern are only related to the cross-border coordination of artificial weather modification; and outer space exploration was only monopolised by one or two superpowers. Now, humans have been able to extend from troposphere to stratosphere, to mesosphere, to exosphere and even to thermosphere. Even though the ownership of land on other planets or natural satellites or of part of space is not recognised by any authority available, it will become a problem sooner or later. As the number of countries and other independent entities that pursue aerospace exploration and competition increases, concerns about the cross-border competition, coordination and cooperation of space resources rise accordingly. This chapter also briefly discusses the topic of ‘mining the moon for clean energy’.
