Abstract
HYPOTHESIS: Prior authors have reported translaminar facet screw fixation is biomechanically similar to transpedicular screw fixation in a circumferential fusion model at one or two levels. Implantation of posterior transpedicular fixation often denervates the paraspinous muscle. We sought an alternative method of posterior fixation that would combine a minimally invasive approach, while still providing the necessary stiff fixation normally reserved for pedicle screws.
