Abstract

Horizontal dipole orientation of light‐emitting materials has a significant effect on the optical out‐coupling efficiency of organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). This paper will present the molecular design of planar or linear‐shaped donor‐acceptor type purely organic light‐emitting materials towards high horizontal dipole orientation of the light emitters. In addition, host‐guest engineering is also investigated to induce further improved horizontal dipole ratio. Besides, owing to the tuned exciton dynamics like fast radiative rate, suppressed non‐radiation and short exciton lifetime, highly efficient monochromatic and white OLEDs are achieved.
