Abstract
The translabyrinthine approach to vestibular schwannomas and other tumors of the posterior fossa provide excellent exposure and access. Cerebellar retraction is minimal, and these approaches can be used in large tumors. Prepontine tumors can be approached with the transcochlear technique, an extension of the translabyrinthine approach.
