Abstract

The development of the field of power ultrasonics is strongly linked to the efficiency and power capacity of the wave generation systems known as power transducers. Applications have generally involved the use of liquids or solids, and as a result, little exploration has taken place into the development of suitable power ultrasonic systems in gas or multiphase media. More recently, however, a new family of power transducers with extensive plate radiators for efficient generation of ultrasonic energy in low-density fluid media have been developed. This chapter describes the structure, design, characteristics, evaluation, and performance of these new transducers
