Abstract

Science and technology in the global perspective are moving forward at a rapid pace. Rapid industrial growth and modernization of manufacturing industries are destroying the global ecology and the environment. Today global warming and climate change are the burdens of human civilization and human scientific progress. Minerals and metal industry in the global platform are polluting the environment. Here comes the need of environmental sustainability and environmental remediation. Water and wastewater treatment in the similar vein stands in the middle of deep scientific introspection. In this treatise the authors deeply elucidates the areas of environmental remediation and environmental pollution control in minerals and metal industry. The hallmark of this treatise is the areas of environmental sustainability in minerals and metal industry. The areas of arsenic and heavy metal groundwater contamination due to minerals and metal industry and its proper eradication are the other cornerstones of this treatise. A new visionary era in the field of mineral engineering and metallurgical engineering will surely evolve if there are concerted efforts from scientists, engineers, and governments in the proper implementation of environmental sustainability in human society and industrial manufacturing. This chapter profoundly highlights the need of environmental sustainability in human civilization’s progress and the progress of industrial manufacturing in the global scenario.
