Abstract

Heat-resistant and fire-retardant ceramic coatings (HRFRCCs) have gone through significant advancements to enhance their mechanical properties. HRFRCCs have been used to decorate metallic substrates in different hot sections of gas engines. There are many materials developed for the fabrication of HRFRCCs on the metallic substrates. The efficiency, reliability, durability, chemical robustness, adhesive strength, stability, anticorrosive features of HRFRCCs enhanced with advancements in various deposition techniques. This chapter includes the properties, applications, and structure of HRFRCCs. It also highlights the degradation mechanism along with important parameters which are adversely affecting the durability and efficiency of HRFRCCs. This chapter also summaries different deposition techniques utilized for the fabrication of HRFRCCs on metallic substrates. This chapter addresses the advancement in new materials for the enhancement of HRFRCCs.
