Abstract
This chapter deals with flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) which is the main degradation mechanisms of the steam/water circuit. The first part describes the differences between the main degradation modes, focusing on FAC and especially on global reports of FAC degradation experience. All parameters which influence the FAC rate are discussed. In Sections 7.3 and 7.4 the main parameters are fully described and the different models are fully discussed. Section 7.5 describes the program maintenance based on the experience of EDF and other companies, taking into account the plant experience, the calculation results and the plant ageing strategy. In conclusion, the knowledge of the FAC phenomenon is summarized and future trends are given.
