Abstract

This chapter presents a linkage of automata theory concepts with applications of automata theory. The concepts of automata theory and formal languages are commonly used in today's era of artificial intelligence and human–computer interaction. Many of the human–computer interaction applications are developed using core concepts of automata theory. Analysis of actual human languages and the manipulation of spoken languages is done with the help of automata theory. Natural language processing is a very interesting and useful application in the real world. Many researchers in the networking domain use the automata theory concepts. Software development and testing are another branch of applications for automata theory. This chapter also covers the applications of neural networks and the robotics domain. At the end of the chapter, an introduction to cellular automata is given.
