Abstract

This chapter discusses the transistor current feedback pair and g matrix applications. The current feedback pair features low-input impedance and high-output impedance. The amplifier current gain is practically independent of the transistor intrinsic characteristics. The parallel-series type feedback causes the input impedance of the amplifier to become very low. The output impedance of the g-type feedback pair is generally very high. The chapter presents a simplified schematic of the current feedback pair, the amplifier section and twoport notations, and the passive feedback twoport. After bisection of the physical amplifier into independent active and passive twoports, they can be recombined as illustrated through a twoport representation of the current feedback pair.
