Abstract

Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), especially elderly people, have higher risk for dementia. To prevent the onset of cognitive impairment, it is important to identify markers for early cognitive decline in patients with T2DM. Recent studies have shown that decrease in olfactory function could be used as a predictor for cognitive dysfunction in general population.
