Abstract

Self-cleaning coatings are intensively investigated for applications related to solar energy conversion, such as applied on the glazing of photovoltaic (PV) modules or solar-thermal collectors, where they can limit the reduction of the solar radiation required as input in these converters. These self-cleaning (SC) coatings are developed as thin films with adequate optical properties (high transmittance and reduced reflectivity), good photocatalytic (PC) efficiency (to degrade up to mineralization organic pollutants), and good weathering resistance.
