Abstract

Cancer is dreadful disease in today's world that kills millions of people every year. It is one of the major health concerns of the 21st century. Normal chemotherapy fails to fight cancer due to non-selectivity of harmful and normal cells. Thus, they cause serious side effects, impaired treatment and ultimately low survival rates. Various efforts have been made to deliver anticancer drugs using macromolecular polymers. Dendrimers have been used as drug delivery vehicles for anticancer drugs. A dendrimer is a synthetic macromolecule with a unique structure having a unique class of polymeric macromolecules found in nature. Dendrimers are a nanocarrier having size 1–100nm. Dendrimers are advanced delivery system for enhanced solubility and low toxicity of anticancer drugs as well as for targeted delivery to cancer cells and theranostic applications. PPI, PAMAM and PLL, dendrimers have been mainly explored in this chapter for delivery anticancer drugs.
