Abstract

This chapter first performs the acoustic emission (AE) tests of unidirectional glassy fiber/epoxy composites under tension–tension fatigue loads, and uses the db5 wavelet packet basis to decompose the AE signals into five layers of wavelet packets in order to complete the wavelet denoising of the AE signal of fatigue specimens. Then, the method of pattern recognition by grouping the peak frequency is verified to a certain extent by analyzing the spectrum of the denoised signals through fast Fourier transform. Finally, the location of damage or damage propagation of composite specimens is determined by using the time-difference linear positioning technique for AE source.
