Abstract
This chapter discusses a simple model calculation of longitudinal (r1) and transverse (r2) water proton relaxivities of ultrasmall lanthanide oxide nanoparticles. The model assumes an induction mechanism of longitudinal (T1) and transverse (T2) water proton relaxations by paramagnetic nanoparticles. The model broadly accounts for r1 and r2 values. Calculated r1 and r2 values are compared with experimental values.
