Abstract

This chapter presents the organizational model description that implicitly defines the information model between the independent system or application level and the independent procedure level. While the information, the data, and the processes are all a part of or taking place in the organization, the other aspects are implicitly defined in the organizational model. It depends entirely on the technique notation used as to whether it is possible to see the implicit aspects and derive the other aspects from it on, for instance, a lower level of detail. Two of the basic issues in information system planning, application design, and development are quality and productivity. Technical quality or performance in the sense of response times and availability of the information system for the users is in the hands of the DP people, that is, technical designers, implementers, programmers, etc.
