Abstract

This chapter considers and analyzes various manifestations of pro-animal violence, and is divided into two parts. The first shows the methods and tactics of actions of the most important terrorist and sabotage animal rights groups, such as the Animal Liberation Front, the Animal Rights Militia, the Justice Department, and Stop Huntington Animal Cruelty. The second part focuses on animal rights activists’ motivations, the ways in which they interpret their own actions, their relationship to violence, and their organizational structure and the impact of that structure on their strategy
