Abstract

The previous chapters examined the onset of yielding and the subsequent plastic evolution during simple uniaxial tensile or compressive loading. However, in many applications, including most metalworking processes, plastic deformation develops in a triaxial (also called multiaxial) state of stress. Therefore, two questions now arise. Which conditions result in the onset of yielding in a triaxial state of stress? How will the subsequent plastic deformation develop?
