Abstract

The objectives of this presentation are as follows: 1) to outline a systematic approach to the assessment and differential diagnosis of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) in mental health settings; 2) to list the clinical features of central disorders of hypersomnolence, including narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, and Kleine-Levin syndrome; and 3) to present an evidence-based approach to pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatment modalities for central disorders of hypersomnolence.
