Abstract

The attenuation of heart rate increase (HRI) during the first minutes of dynamic exercise and heart rate recovery (HRR) post-exercise are associated with an increased mortality in high-risk patients. The characterization of HRI at the onset of exercise testing and its relationship with maximal and submaximal exercise performance, HRR, and gas exchange parameters have not been investigated in patients with advanced heart failure (HF).
