Abstract

This chapter describes the anatomy of microsurgical free skin flaps, free muscle flaps, and free fascial flaps used for reconstruction of the upper extremity. It provides detailed instructions for the dissection, elevation, and harvest of the most frequently used free skin flaps—the lateral arm flap, radial forearm flap, scapular flap, anterolateral thigh flap, groin flap; the latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous and muscle flap and the serratus anterior muscle flap; the temporoparietal fascial flap; and sensory flaps from the great toe–second toe web space.
