Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, we propose the novel interface EDDS (Embedded All in Data line Differential Signaling) to support high resolution and large‐Size TFT‐LCDs. EDDS uses 4‐level differential signaling, with a higher data rate per clock cycle and low EMI emission. Moreover, the control signals and clock of EDDS are embedded into four data lines, which not only decreases the number of wires between timing controllers (TCON) and source driver ICs (CDs), but also solves the issue of clock skew in conventional multi‐drop buses. By controlling the protocol, EDDS can flexibly support different specifications of TFT‐LCD and increase the quality of signal. In a word, the EDDS interface can effectively improve the performance of large‐Size TFT‐LCD applications and serve as a good solution for cost down.
