Abstract

AbstractStereoscopic displays can produce perceptual distortions, performance decrements, and fatigue/discomfort because of conflicts between the presented binocular disparities and focus cues (blur and accommodation). We have developed a display that circumvents this problem. It uses a fast switchable lens synchronized to the display such that focus cues are nearly correct. We describe its use in an experiment on visual discomfort and fatigue.
