Abstract

Visceral artery aneurysms (VAAs) and visceral artery pseudoaneurysms (VAPAs) include lesions of the splanchnic circulation and those of the renal artery. VAAs are often asymptomatic and are now being diagnosed with increasing frequency, related to routine use of cross-sectional imaging. VAPAs occur mostly as a result of inflammation and trauma. However, their diagnosis is clinically important because of the associated high mortality and potential complications in case of rupture. Endovascular techniques are well established as the treatment of choice in their management. Knowledge of the various approaches of endovascular therapy of aneurysms and different embolic materials used in the management of VAAs and VAPAs is essential for successful and safe endovascular treatment. Endovascular management includes transcatheter arterial embolization with coils or liquid embolic agents, stent grafts, or remodeling technique. Direct percutaneous embolization of VAAs and VAPAs may also be performed. Advances in endovascular management with various aneurysmal isolation techniques and their benefits and risks are discussed.
