Abstract

One of the key elements in a wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) direct detection system is a wavelength-tunable filter or receiver capable of detecting a desired channel from incoming data streams. Grating-assisted codirectional coupler (GACC) based devices have attracted great attention due to its wide and fast tunability. In this paper, we use the tapered GACC approach to demonstrate an integrated receiver with a 40 nm tuning range while maintaining low side-lobes.
