Abstract

This chapter discusses various two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor nanocrystals as a new direction in modern science and technology. The chapter begins with a review of the physicochemical properties of graphene and its impact on science and industry. It then reviews other 2D nanocrystals: chalcogenides, titanium dioxide (TiO2), molybdenum trioxide (MoO3), tungsten trioxide (WO3), niobium pentoxide (Nb2O5), tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) and zinc oxide (ZnO). The chapter concludes by discussing the future impact of the combination of the 2D semiconductor nanocrystals into 3D structures.
