Abstract

This chapter reviews recent advances in the management of dentine hypersensitivity (DH). It emphasizes the need to tailor management to specific clinical situations to resolve the condition. This approach calls for a correct clinical diagnosis, together with an appropriate management strategy to inform and educate the clinician. The chapter overviews recent treatment modalities and product innovations. It attempts to answer the question whether there is currently an ideal desensitizing treatment that will successfully treat DH to the satisfaction of clinicians and all affected persons.
