Abstract
This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the elements and techniques of fabric surface design in the context of interior textiles. The discussion starts with an introduction of the basic surface design elements along with a historical perspective of the subject. This is followed by a description of the techniques of dyeing, printing, creating textures and embellishing textiles. The roles of designers and trend forecasters in the industry are also explained before the chapter concludes with a discussion on the future of interior textile design.
