Abstract

Beverages being the most prominent consumable substances throughout the human culture, has led to an emergence of their enormous production and mass supply globally. With these advancements, there developed a need for a long-term containment of their original nutritive value. Thus, an introduction of preservatives and preservation techniques paved a way to better storage and conservation of these products. However, with changing times consumeristic views with respect to food and beverage consumption has taken a path toward more of realistic approaches; those which deal with the health awareness. Evolution from the addition of preservatives to an involvement of 0% preservatives in beverages came into existence with growing consciousness about the adverse effects of chemical preservatives among the masses.
