Abstract

Energy budgets for a nude human subject put in calorimetric chamber in quiet conditions show values of heat exchange through radiation, convection, evaporation, and mass-flows. For each mode of heat exchange, corresponding entropy flows are calculated. Based on the assumption that the entropy content of the human body is in steady state, entropy production in the human subject is obtained. It turns out to be positive. Entropy production is constant from 26°C to 32°C (entropy homeostasis). Entropy production shows the increasing tendency for exercises and for chills.
