Abstract

Oil, gas, and petrochemical industries are typically categorized into upstream, midstream, and downstream segments. The various kinds of risks posed by the complicated processes involved in fuel exploration, drilling wells, transportation, processing, and refining gas and oil to both workers and assets are discussed in this chapter. Products from the gas and oil industry are universally in high demand as fuel or raw material in chemical and petrochemical industries. However, during the refining process involved in their production, several different hazardous materials are released into the atmosphere. This chapter deals with the different categories of process safety and personal safety hazards in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sector and discusses ways to minimize them.
