Abstract

In this chapter, forced vibration of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems (both undamped and under-damped) due to harmonic force is considered. Governing equations are derived and the displacement response is determined using Wilson's recurrence formula. Vibration excitation due to imbalance in rotating machines is discussed. Equations for transmissibility are derived for force and displacement isolation. The underlying principle of vibration-measuring instruments is illustrated.
