Abstract
The title azo–azomethine dye, C19H15N3O, was synthesized by the reaction of 2-hydroxy-5-[(E)-phenyldiazenyl]benzaldehyde with aniline. With respect to the azo double bond, the two attached benzene rings display a trans configuration with a C—N=N—C torsion angle of 178.5 (3)°. The structure is stabilized by intramolecular O—H⋯N and intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
