Abstract
The Micronutrients for ADHD in Youth (MADDY) study was an 8-week double-blind RCT of broad-spectrum multinutrients (BSMN) for children with ADHD with emotional dysregulation (ages 6-12 years). The primary outcome, the Clinical Global Impressions-Improvement (CGI-I) scale, showed 3 times as many responders (54%) with BSMN as placebo (18%). Because the minerals lithium (Li), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), selenium (Se), and magnesium (Mg) are in the BSMN formula, this research explored: 1) changes in blood mineral levels with supplementation of 78 children (46 BSMN, 32 placebo); and 2) baseline levels as moderators of treatment response.
