Abstract
The publication 365 Terms of Urban Design is based on the urgent requirement to respond to the current state of incomplete sometimes absent and often incorrectly used terminology in the field of urban design and urban planning. In the publication, the 365 most frequently used terms from the field of urban design and urban planning are selected, according to which it is named "365 terms of urban design". This name describes the long-standing motto of the Institute of Urban Design and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of STU in Bratislava "A little bit of urban design every day will not harm the body any day!”. The publication is intended for students studying architecture and urban design in study programs of the first, second and third level of study. The first part of the publication, entitled Thematic Circles, systematizes the terminology from the point of view of individual areas of urban design and urban planning. The second part of the publication is written in the form of a dictionary from A-Z, in which each term is arranged alphabetically, numbered and explained in terms of terminology. The basic definition of the selected terms is an author's explanation based on the study of literature, research and experience from the pedagogical process and practice. The aim of the publication is not to create a generally binding regulation for the use of technical terms in urban design and urban planning, but to summarize and complete terms that are currently fragmented in a lot of other sources. The goal of the publication is to simplify students' access to basic terms and information that every future architect and urban designer should know. In this way, the authors ask all future readers with a critical opinion on the interpretation of selected terms (or the form of processing of the publication) to not hesitate to contact the authors and help contribute to the improvement of the teaching process and the stabilization of terminology in our field.
