Abstract

Introduction: Intestinal metaplasia is the development of intestine-like epithelium in abnormal locations, traditionally the stomach and esophagus where squamous cells transform into columnar mucosal cells. It is considered a precancerous condition that is attributed to chronic inflammation. Cutaneous intestinal metaplasia is rare, but it is likely an underreported entity. We report 2 cases of cutaneous intestinal metaplasia, 1 that has progressed to adenocarcinoma.
