Abstract

To better understand how the particularly fragile skin from infants and children is impacted by sun radiation, compared with adults, we used irradiated in vitro skin models from different ages and evaluated their DNA repair capacities, formation of sunburn cells and expression of specific epidermal markers. Fibroblasts from infants, toddlers, children or adult donors were irradiated at 0.5 or 0.75 DEM using a solar light simulator. After 24 hours, repair capacity toward each lesion was evaluated by quantification of incorporated fluorescence.
