Abstract

Diseases causing right lower quadrant pain are relatively well described in the literature. But the causes of left lower quadrant (LLQ) are not well documented and not well known. The purpose of this exhibit is to illustrate the high resolution sonographic findings of various diseases causing left lower quadrant pain with a description of sonographic features that help to establish a correct diagnosis. We will show the primary epiploic appendagitis, sigmoid colonic diverticulitis, sigmoid colon cancer, polypoid lesion of the sigmoid colon, acute appendicitis positioned in the LLQ abdomen in rotation anomaly, fecal impaction in the distal descending or sigmoid colon, inflammatory, infectious and ischemic bowel disease involving the distal descending and sigmoid colon, and Meckel’s diverticulum. We will also exhibit the gynecolonic and urologic conditions causing LLQ abdominal pain. We will exhibit these diseases with high resolution sonographic imaging.
