Abstract

This chapter covers polymers in which the most important linking group is the ether moiety, which is O. Included in this chapter are the acetals also called polyoxymethylene or polyacetal, both homopolymer and copolymer. The third plastic type included in this chapter is polyphenylene, also referred to as polyphenylene oxide (PPO). Chemical structures, manufacturers, and trade names along with typical end uses of the plastics are included besides extensive graphic creep data as a function of temperature and stress level. Plastics included in this section are acetal, acetal copolymer, and PPO.
