Abstract
This chapter presents the essential structural and technological properties of two types of nickel aluminide intermetallics that are already in use and also being considered for some critical industrial applications. The chapter first reviews the basic structural and physical properties of nickel aluminide intermetallics in cumbersome detail. Then the chapter continues with demonstrating their limitations and advantages in mechanical behaviour in addition to operational performance. Then the reader is informed about the progress on processing and joining applications to help relate the problems and prospects in manufacturing of these alloys and their composites.
