Abstract

This chapter follows the development of the animal rights ideology from its origins, such as the moment when the first shy attempts at including animals in the sphere of morality took place, up to the times of open demands for granting them rights and liberties comparable with those that people retain. The chapter concludes with an analysis of the most radical beliefs of the animal rights nature included in the so-called “Declaration of War.”
