Abstract
3-AminoBODIPY derivatives (5a–e) were unexpectedly synthesized by the coupling of amines with 2-BODIPY-borates in the presence of copper(II) acetate Cu(OAc)2 and tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) in the air at room temperature. 5a (pKa=9.18) was found to be a novel colorimetric and ratiometric fluorescent pH probe at alkaline pH ranges.
