that IR is moderately to very important in patient care. Only 8% of students felt as though IR education was only mildly or not at all important to their education at the MS1 level. Of the aforementioned 8%, 2 of these students felt that IR education would not benefit them on the USMLE Step 1. Conclusion: By incorporating IR education into the MS1 curriculum we are able to positively influence a students’ understanding of the breadth of IR, recognition of IR as a clinical specialty, and interest in choosing IR as a specialty. For the 2013-2014 academic year, this elective has been integrated into the MS1 curriculum.
