Abstract

Trauma can cause a number of life-threatening chest injuries in children including tension pneumothorax, open pneumothorax, massive haemothorax and pericardial tamponade. It is imperative to have the knowledge and clinical skills required for several critical chest procedures for the emergency management of these traumatic pathologies. The same chest procedures are often also required for nontraumatic aetiologies.
