Abstract

Introduction and objectives: Beta-catenin (β-catenin) is a crucial transcriptional factor in Wnt signaling and plays an important role in stem cell renewal. In dermal papilla cells, Wnt/β-catenin pathway activation leads to the production of secreted factors that are essential to anagen onset and hair growth. These factors promote the proliferation and differentiation of epitelial stem cells of the bulge (anagen onset) and matrix cells (anagen maintenance). The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effect of the association of 6 active ingredients of an anti-hair loss shampoo (biotin; hydrolyzed wheat protein; dexpanthenol; piridoxine; tocopheryl nicotinate; ruscus extract) on Wnt/β-catenin pathway activation in human hair follicle dermal papilla cells (HHFDPCs).
