Abstract

Alterations in platelet reactivity have been posited to underlie the increased vulnerability of depressed patients to IHD, and multiple studies have documented increased platelet activation in patients with major depression. We sought to determine whether treatment with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor paroxetine reduces platelet activation in depressed patients in comparison to placebo.
