Abstract

In nuclear power plant, it has been reported that fatigue failure of small-bore piping due to pressure pulsation are caused by dynamic machinery. It is important for preventing fatigue failure of the piping to predict accurately the pressure pulsation and vibration. So far, it doesn't seems to be investigated that how much the amplitude of pressure pulsation are affected by large bending vibration in piping which lead piping to fatigue failure. In this study, experiments were conducted using the full-scale piping system under conditions of intense pressure pulsation and piping vibration, which was caused by matching pressure pulsation frequency, acoustic resonance frequency, and piping natural frequency. In these conditions, the amplitude of pressure pulsation was investigated, and significant change in distribution of pressure pulsation wasn't observed. Therefore, it can be thought that it is not necessary to consider the effect of bending vibration on the amplitude of pressure pulsation in terms of practical using.
